NOMINATIONS OPEN FOR ORDER OF BRITISH COLUMBIA
VICTORIA Nominations for the Order of British Columbia,
the Provinces highest recognition of excellence and lifetime
achievement, are now being accepted by the Honours and Awards
Secretariat.
The
Order of B.C. acknowledges British Columbians who have distinguished
themselves through their dedication, determination, and excellence,
benefiting our great province or elsewhere, said Honourable
Steven Point, Lieutenant-Governor and Chancellor of the Order
of British Columbia. I encourage you to take the time and
make the effort to nominate any citizen who you think is deserving
of this extraordinary honour.
Nominations
for the Order of British Columbia will be accepted until 5 p.m.,
March 10, 2009. An independent advisory council headed by British
Columbia Chief Justice Lance Finch will consider all nominees.
A dinner and special ceremony of recognition will be hosted by
Lt.-Gov. Point at Government
House for recipients and invited guests.
The Order
of British Columbia was established in 1989. Since its inception,
275 British Columbians have been honoured.
