2003 Western Premiers' Conference
Premier's Welcome
Message
I
am pleased to welcome my fellow premiers of Canadas western
provinces and the territories to the Annual Western Premiers
Conference in Kelowna, British Columbia.
This years annual conference is the culmination of a year
of work, between ministers and government officials, on issues of
vital importance to all. We will focus on economic prosperity and
opportunities for the West, options for improving federal-provincial
relations and enhancing our relationship with the United States.
Our setting this time is the City of Kelowna, a year-round tourism
destination with a vast array of amenities, cultural and recreational
activities, bicycle paths and walking trails, winery and orchard
tours, a wonderful climate and a population that is warm and welcoming.
It is the largest city in British Columbias Okanagan Valley,
situated on the eastern shore of Okanagan Lake.
Welcome to the conference and welcome to the Okanagan Valley.
Sincerely,
Gordon Campbell
Premier
